Meet the Team |
||
Dorothy Martland Dorothy, a former teacher and Head of Year with 25 years experience, was founder of DBBC and has always maintained that if someone has a skill they should pass their knowledge on to others and that everyone should be helped to reach their potential. She has worked tirelessly for the last 8 years to bring DBBC to where it is now and is an ambassador, promoting DBBC in the town and beyond.

Anne Wilson Anne is a former teacher who worked for many years in Bolton primary schools. A career change led to her coming to DBBC on an admin placement whilst doing an NVQ in Business Administration. She then became a volunteer at DBBC helping with the training. In 2002 she completed an NVQ in IT and NVQ level 3 Training & Development, which qualifies her to assess and evaluate students' coursework. She is now a full-time member of staff with responsibility for checking and assessing the student folders.

Martin Ellison Martin came to us as a volunteer in April 1999 after spending some considerable time unemployed. Having a lot of experience with recording equipment and live band work his skills were easily transferable to studio work. To enhance his skills in working with the variety of clients we get at DBBC, Martin took counselling courses levels 1 and 2 and also acquired his NVQ level 3 in training and development. He is also our technician and PAT tester.

Jamie Blatchley Jamie is a university graduate with a B.A. Hons in journalism. He joined DBBC in 2003 and his role is to teach the broadcasting element of the ‘Media Techniques In Radio' course, alongside co-ordinating the ‘Saturday Live' broadcast team. He also broadcasts regularly on Hospital Radio Rossendale and performs at a local folk club.

Alan Martland After working in the family business for ten years, Alan eventually started working for the NHS. His role in the latter years was part of the commissioning team for the new Royal Preston Hospital. After 25 years he left, because the travelling had become a problem. He set up his own one-man business which would give him more free time to help Dorothy with DBBC. His main task was to raise funds and, with guidance from CVS, he managed to establish financial stability. In 2005 his team secured a lottery grant to cover 60% of the costs for three years.
