Qualifications
DBBC offers two nationally accredited courses to students.
The first is a basic foundation course - First Steps in Radio Broadcasting - and is aimed at those students who struggle to cope with the more advanced course Media Techniques in Radio.
Both courses cover all aspects of sound recording, editing, programming and production combined with an element of health and safety in the radio environment.
All practical skills learned are evidenced by the compilation of a folder in which there will be photographic, written and witness statemented proof that the student has achieved the desired competency. On completion of the course these work folders are submitted to Open College NW for moderation. Due to the nature of the work there will also be much audio recorded evidence.
Students are required to gather evidence for a minimum of 50 hours which can be spread over numerous months to suit, and due to the rolling programme element there is always a continuous stream of students at all stages of the course who can work together and help each other to reinforce learning.
